Dorothy King Aspiration Scholarship

The Dorothy King Aspiration Scholarship was created in honor of Jessica King's great-grandmother, who inspired her to create White Dove Disability Advocacy and is the subject for many poems and short stories.

Dorothy Jean King was born in Covington, Kentucky in 1933. She demonstrated unconditional empathy and love for anyone she interacted with. Whether they were family returning home or strangers walking through her door for the first time, she always welcomed them with open arms, a warm heart, and a hearty meal. All she'd ever ask for in return was the person's time, which was the greatest gift she hoped to receive.

Although she had passed away in 2016, her unwavering kindness had set an example of creating a safe place for others in a chaotic world. This is only one of Jessica's efforts to preserve and honor Dorothy's memory.

An older woman with fair skin, dark eyes, and short black curly hair. She's wearing a pink blouse and holding a pink rose, and smiling warmly at the camera.
