Board of Directors
The board of directors for WDDA consists of disabled leaders and disability allies have aligned themselves and their efforts to promotion disability inclusion and equity in access, education, and representation.

Jessica King (She/They)
Jessica is a neurodivergent woman with multiple chronic illnesses, finishing her undergraduate education as a dual-major in creative writing and comparative world literature and dual-minor in health humanities and human development.

She describes herself as having “no barriers to the curiosity of disability studies,” ambitiously committed to independent research and community projects while actively advocating for the necessity of accessibility and disability inclusion in all conversations.​ While accepting the “Commitment to Social Justice” individual award at California State University, Long Beach, Jessica shared that while “[her] name may be on the certificate, [her] award is dedicated to CSULB students with disabilities and the disabled community. This award is a promise that [she] will keep going in representing [her] community and advocating for more narratives to be acknowledged.”

Destiny Islas (She/Her)
Graduate student in Public Administration at California State University, Long Beach, Destiny is the first in her family to earn a bachelor's degree (Liberal Studies) and is soon to complete her Master's. Living with anxiety, Type 1 diabetes, and recently diagnosed with ADHD, she founded the campus Diabetes Connection and advocates for sharps containers in USU facilities. Active in the student health and wellness committee, she aims for a career in management to support low-income communities as a diverse leader.

Jamie Lerner-Brecher (She/Her)
Jamie is a disability studies scholar-activist. She currently works as a disability specialist at the Center for Accessible Education at UCLA on the unceded lands of the Chumash and Tongva Nations. She holds a master's degree in Disability Studies from the CUNY School of Professional Studies and a bachelor's degree in American Studies from Columbia University.
Jamie is passionate about creating access and equity for all disabled students, especially those who are multiply-marginalized. Jamie’s current research focuses on disability training and inclusive pedagogy for faculty as well as marginalized disabled students’ accommodation usage at UCLA.
Jamie has multiple chronic illnesses including Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, gastroparesis, and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. She also has a learning disability.
